Next big reality TV show….

Right now you’re thinking, “I thought this was a paranormal blog, what is this crap doing here?” But wait! Hear me out!

This is my pitch for the next big reality TV show.

Find a house that is old or is made to look old. A house that looks as if it has a long history. Make sure the house has NO reported paranormal activity at all. Next you have to fake a history to the house. Throw in a few murders, some tragic deaths of children, maybe a suicide here and there and make sure this can be backed up with fake old newspaper clippings or something like that. Some kind of hard facts. Then you have to make up a paranormal history, things that have happened, in this room or that room. Who has been seen.

Now, pick, oh I dunno, lets say 8 people. Eight average, normal, everyday types. No drama queens, or lunatics like they put on regular reality tv. Four who believe in the paranormal and four who do not. Tell them the history of this house and that it is haunted. After they move in tell them a ghost story about the house ever now and then. This ghost was seen here in this room, or this little girl ghost likes to pull hair. Things like that. Then turn the cameras on and let the fun begin. It would be so interesting to see them convince each other of paranormal activity. See who resists and who falls hard for it. The power of suggestion is so fascinating to me. It can make you “know” you saw something when you didn’t.

I remember as a teenager going with my friends to the cemetery. All the girls were scared and squealing. Saying they see this over there and that over here. I was really annoyed with them, but I was more annoyed with myself. The longer I listened to them, the more I started feeling like squealing and acting like an idiot. I never went with my friends to look for ghosts again. LOL

When I started actually investigating I made sure I didn’t go with anyone who would put ideas in my head. I enlisted my husband to be my partner. We both believe in the paranormal, but he has a science based mind. He’s an Engineer so he is good with physics and all that book learnin.  So we had a good balance going on, and I never once heard him squeal like a girl, it worked well for us!

Anyway, that’s my pitch for the next big reality TV show. I would watch it, but with out all the drama and such it might not last long. Oh, and welcome to Mommy D’s darkside. My hubby likes to call me Donna Reed with a darkside.

LOL! This is a show I do believe I would watch. But it’s actually a good idea for other reasons. A good experiment. If I was back in school and needed a project, I’d borrow this idea. It’s wonderful!

Thanks! I wanted to get the point across of just how easily a mind can become convinced of seeing things when nothing abnormal is actually present. I think it would be an interesting show :)
